{ Real Mountain Wedding } Rebekeh + Travis at Saddle Ridge in Beaver Creek, Colorado

Saddle Ridge is located near the slopes at the Beaver Creek Ski Resort.  Nearby mountain towns include Vail, Minturn and Avon. A short drive away and you’re at Copper Mountain and Leadville and then Summit County.  This valley is on the other side of Vail Pass, which can be tricky to drive.  Once you’re there, the Vail Valley is absolutely magical.

Luckily, there were blue skies and no hazardous driving conditions for guests or vendors who traveled to the event.  Rebekeh and Travis asked the planning team at Petal and Bean / Summit Mountain Weddings to help them put together a fun, winter wedding in the Colorado Rocky Mountains.  So, that’s what we did.  Today’s photos are courtesy of Elevate Photography.

{ Real Mountain Wedding } Jessica + David: Black Mountain Lodge // Arapahoe Basin, Colorado

I first met Joe back in the 90′s and he was one of the main adaptive ski instructors at the B.O.E.C., or Breckenridge Outdoor Education Center.  He now heads up the Keystone branch of the adaptive ski program.  When Joe isn’t helping folks hit the slopes, he’s guiding rafts and is great behind the lens.  He shoots mountain weddings, but now has a new focus for his lens, his young daughter.  This collection of photos is courtesy of Joe Kusumoto Photography.

Located on the west side of Loveland Pass,  is the Black Mountain Lodge at Arapahoe Basin .  Inside the mid-mountain lodge, high vaulted ceilings supported by immense raw cut timbers rise above the spacious dining room where towering windows offer you and your guests incomparable views of the Continental Divide.

Outside, the lodge’s spacious deck extends above the mountain terrain and is the perfect setting for you and your guests to enjoy light hors d’oeuvres, or for you to hold your entire wedding ceremony.  All at 11,550 feet above sea level.  Arapahoe Basin is known for a clientele of hardcore, yet relaxed folks that like simply to ski.  This special mountain is where Jessica and David choose to hold their wedding and reception.

Jessica wanted a laid back, yet elegant style for her gathering.   She chose to have only white and green flowers, with hints of lavender and rosemary.  Jessica is a girl who knew what exactly what she wanted when it came to her flowers and decorations.  She said she loved white flowers because they are “clean, simple and rich looking.”   She wanted a simple, no fuss, approach to her wedding. She just had to have Petal and Bean as her florist.  However, we were already booked for the day of her wedding.

Jessica and Dina, lead designer at Petal and Bean, hit it off so well that Jessica insisted that Dina do her flowers.  They struck a deal with the Basin so that the flowers could be delivered the day before.  Dina made sure the flowers were just what Jessica and David wanted, and the staff at Petal and Bean took care of the rest.  There aren’t any other more perfect accessories for a bride than love in her eyes and a big, beautiful smile.

Jessica’s  bridal bouquet was created using  white flowers with touches of green berries and leaves. It was a natural garden style tied off with a sheer white ribbon.

Clearly a couple after my own heart, they opted for Daylight Donuts instead of  a traditional wedding cake or  trendy cupcakes.  Mmmmm… Daylight donuts.  Warm, light and luscious.  Pillowly plump and satisfyingly sweet.  Who doesn’t love a donut?

Jessica and David wanted fresh lavender sprigs for their champagne flutes.  We were able to obtain fresh organic lavender grown right in Colorado.  How sweet is that?  Simple and beautiful.

Joe Kusumoto was the photographer that Jessica and David chose and he really did an amazing job.  There were so many photos I wanted to include but I had to narrow it down to these. He and second shooter, Jeff  Shane, who also provided a photo booth and costumes for their guests to enjoy.  It was such a fun night for everyone!

{ Real Mountain Wedding } Ashley + Marc Married on the Shore of Lake Dillon. Reception at the Silverthorne Pavilion.

I’ll let you in on a secret.  Lake Dillon isn’t really a lake.  It’s actually a reservoir, containing the drainages of three streams.  The Snake comes from Keystone, the Blue comes from Breckenridge, and Ten Mile Creek travels from Copper Mountain.  Buildings were moved, houses were relocated, and the area that is filled with water is what you see.

You can kayak on this lake, mountain bike and trail run on the trails near the edge or even take a water taxi or create a pontoon parade like we did.

Molly from Cedar House Photography writes:

“Ashley & Marc are old friends from college – Ashley & I met singing in an acappella group!  Their wedding was on a gorgeous fall day overlooking Lake Dillon in Silverthorne, and I was so, so excited to be there.  Not only did I get to watch my beautiful friend walk down the aisle to marry a kind, handsome man, I also got to reconnect with some long-lost college friends :)  The weather was perfect, the whole day was so relaxed, and I was thrilled to be a part of it.”

The Silverthorne Pavillion was the decorated using a DIY effort, which turned out great.  Candles, and a few Aspen branches were just the right touch.

At the base of Peak 10′s Falcon Lift, on Breckenridge Ski Resort’s Peak 9, sits the stunningly elegant, yet rustic, Ten Mile Station, where Cara and Heman (say Hay-men) invited 200 of their closest friends and family to be part of their once in a lifetime wedding ceremony and reception in the Colorado Rocky Mountains.

In late July, the mountainsides were alive with wildflowers and the well-manicured perennial gardens were blooming with royal blue Lupine, rare, red Columbines and Delphinium.

Cara and Heman’s photographer, Becky Young , captured all the details of their stunning day perfectly.  Her style  is described as “joyful and modern mountain photography.”  She specializes in documentary style wedding photography throughout Colorado and the Rocky Mountains.  Her attention to detail, use of natural light and the majestic surroundings do not go unnoticed, these photos are amazing!

Breckenridge’s own Petal and Bean created Cara’s bright Gerber Daisy bridal bouquet along with the groomsmen’s boutonnieres and the bridesmaid’s bouquets.  Petal and Bean has been in the wedding flower business since 1994 and has worked with hundreds of brides creating the perfect wedding flowers and event decor for their special day.

Keeping with her mountain spirit, Cara spent a good part of her day walking around in her sandals under her gorgeous, strapless wedding gown  as you can see here with their cute dog and her bridesmaids riding the lift.

Ten Mile Station is located at 10,234 feet above the Blue River Valley and the quaint Victorian town of Breckenridge on the Slopes of the Breckenridge Ski Area, where it can rain or snow at any time of the year.  However, Cara and Heman were blessed with a glorious blue skies and giant cottony clouds as their backdrop and they didn’t need the umbrellas after all, but they are a good thing to have on hand just in case.  Colorado is typically known for afternoon showers in the summer.

After their beautiful ceremony out on the enormous deck, the staff at Ten Mile Station served an elegant sit down dinner to all their closest friends and family .  Following dinner and several rounds of toasts to the happy couple, Heman, Cara and their guests satisfied their sweet tooths with dark devil’s food, vanilla  and red velvet cupcakes.

They danced all night until the skies filled with stars  and had the perfect day.  Cara and Heman’s wedding is definitely one that will not soon be forgotten by anyone who was lucky enough to be there.  Want to find out more about planning your own mountain wedding?  Summit Mountain Weddings is the place to start.  Contact us today to learn more!
